Christina is a former sangoma, a medium who consults demons posing as ancestral spirits. Local sangomas wield a great deal of power in the community.  When people in her village needed healing, help finding a job or attracting a suitor they would look to her for the answers. Through the beating drums she would call upon the spirits.  The cause of the villager's trouble is most often diagnosed as an offended spirit or a curse called up by another villager.  After receiving an offering to appease the ancestor spirits, Christina might present the distressed petitioner with some charm or treatment in the vain  hope of a cure.   This treatment, called muti, is a concoction usually made of herbs or animal organs.  However, the most powerful magic comes from human body parts. Muti murders and child mutilation are still frequent occurrences in Africa.  With all this power at her command, Christina could not find the answer for her own diseases.  She suffered from diabetes and other ailments.

During an outreach in Salubinza, South Africa, she heard about the healing power of Jesus Christ and came to the tent. That night, along with hundreds of others, Christina gave her life to a holy and loving God who sent His Son to pay the price for our sins and give us a new life in Him.

I'm following Jesus and I'm never turning back!

A few days later, with muti, drums and other instruments of her craft laid out before her, Christina testified before the people of Salubinza, "I used these things all my life and they never did me any good. I'm following Jesus and I'm never turning back!"
