South Africa
In 1999 Kent made his first trip to South Africa. While he was ministering in KwaZulu Natal, Pastor Stanford Maminza called him several times to confirm his coming to Salubinza.
For weeks the people of the church had been carrying dirt to level a place to erect the meeting tent you see here. To the natural eye it was nothing but raw poles and tarps but when the presence of God came there was no tabernacle more wonderful.
Christina was a sangoma, a spiritual medium, who had come to the tent to see if she couldn't appropriate some power. Instead she gave her life to Christ and we burned all of the articles of sorcery.
Michael was an inyanga, a traditional healer in Numbi. After coming to Christ, Michael made a bold profession of his faith by breaking all connection with the spirits of his past and burning his roundhouse to the ground.
On the third night of an outreach in Kamagugu, Kent was asked to go to the home of a woman of the village. Her son, pictured left, had taken ill with some mysterious ailment. Paralyzed in his extremeties, the doctors and traditional healers had been unable to diagnose the problem or do anything for the man. As Kent and the pastor prayed he gradually gained power in his arms and legs. He walked the half mile from the house to the meeting and then to the altar where he gave his life to Christ.
